Cable length vs. new handlebars
#1
Hi from the bluegrass state.

So I'm not happy with the riding profile of my new bike and considering replacing the drag bars with something more ergonomic. What I'm considering to install has about a 3" rise and swept hand grips but will that force me to buy a longer shift cable for the Nexus hub?

I understand it's hard to make advice from pics but maybe someone has done something similar. Cables need a certain amount of slack and the new bars may tension that cable.

Can I do this without buying a new cable?

Yes, probably you'll need new cables AND cable sheaths. I'm in a similar situation, such that after a proper bike fitting, it was recommended to raise my handlebars via an adjustable stem piece for my road bike. I can't take it to that level yet, because my cables get tight and tug at the handlebar wrap.

Have to agree with Allen , new cable is recommended as unfortunately they do not give anyone slack from the manufacturer.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!
