Most of the instructions I've found for wrapping drop handlebars start the tape from the bottom/plug end, then end up using electrical tape to finish the wrap. Why is this? When you use handlebar tape that's not black, the electrical tape is going to make the job look cheap, unsightly, and amateurish... to my thinking, anyway.
If you start the wrap at the top, the tape is likely to unwrap due to pressure from your hands when riding.<br />
Starting at the bottom counteracts this.

I've seen, can't remember where now, that one could wrap from the stem to the levers, cut the tape and then wrap from the bottom to the levers on regular drop bars, ending the wrapping on either side of the the lever.
I just put some bullhorns on so I've no idea if this works.

You can wrap it from the top to the bottom a lot of people do it this way I for one do it this way. Just take a look how it is wrap and do it backward what I mean is look at the way it end as you take the old wrap off as you know on the right side it goes clock ways and the left side goes counter clock way. So when you start it make sure it is going in the right way to finish like it was if you was to start from the bottom. Before you use the real tape try putting on some rope until you get it going on right way this will help you out more than you know. Hope I help a little if not I did try.:-)

also you can buy different colors of electrical tape, they can match the color of you handlebar tape.
Is there a tutorial request on how to wrap bars? I would like to learn how to do that.
Just a small note: Good idea to check your brake cables to see if you need to replace them while you have the Drop Tape off.
