Pedal slip on NEXT Chaos FS System 20
#1
Hi All!

My son's bike seems to be history. He pedals and the back wheel doesn't move. He has a bmx style bike, shown here: http://www.walmart.com/ip/20-Boys-NEXT-Chaos-Freestyle-Bike/4231516

It is about 3-4 years old. I'm hoping I can fix it, but I don't know much about these bikes as I've never seen the part that appears to be the problem. I gather it's a freehub cassette or something, based on my reading here.

Anyway, I don't mind ordering the part and just replacing, if it can be done.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. If need be, I can post a pic of the part.

Thanks!

PS. Thanks for this forum!!

That is a single speed freewheel and there is only one way to remove it and here is a site that will explain how to ..... http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=46 . Getting a replacement is pretty simple by counting the number of teeth on the sprocket, going to http://www.amazon.com , then put in the number of teeth followed by single speed bmx sprocket.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

Sorry for the long delay. Finally got a chance to do this after having to travel, etc.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! All worked quite well following the links you provided. Saved me from trashing the bike, ha.

For those who try this repair, and don't have a vice like me, I found it best to put the wheel vertical and then loosen with a pair of pliers. That sucker sure was tight though. LOL

Again, thx so much!
