"SPINMAN"
yup, I often use blutooth buds streaming from my phone
There are two kinds of people in the world, "Those who help themselves to people, and those who help people!"
Yep, at my local bike track. I was using Shokz, now I use AirPods for both the music and the noise-cancelling feature. Just crank the tunes and pedal. It's awesome.
No! My brain functions properly, requires no batteries, requires no ear things, requires no buttons, requires no account, requires no signal strength, provides much higher fidelity, and my music can be immediately changed in volume, tone, and tempo in playback while able to do a random shuffle or themed "playback" in a literal flash in any weather or environment (even an EMP or CME event!).
So let's see; I do not need a power meter, an external music source, a heartrate/vitals monitor, a web application, a cyclometer, GPS, a phone, no "energy" non-food, etc. to go out and enjoy a bike ride.
What I did require was a well functioning body and bicycle (often without water, pump/repair kit), and nothing more.
Biking in reality is much more exhilerating, free and enjoyable if you remove all of the "required"
modern trappings saddled upon riders, and brainwashing the average cyclist into thinking they need to spend hundreds to thousands of dollars beyond the bike just to go cycling. Insane!
Cycling is much more fun when you leave the world behind instead of continually dragging your everyday life around with you.
When is the last time you went on any type of moderately lengthy ride (+1hr. I toured for months; my comms were smoke signals!), or even a short jaunt to the corner store w/o any electronic device in hand or attached to the bike? If you have not done that, then arguably, you really have not gone cycling in a truly freeing manner (and I feel sorry to those who must needlessly be continually tethered to industrial electronics instead of using the electronics of the mind and body.
Enjoy your riding; I am heading out now with body and bike and soul to utterly enjoy cycling and nature w/o all the BS.
To all you noncompetitors wasting your money on cycling "fluff", I have some swanp land to sell you!
Ride Fast, Be Safe!
