Triple trouble

Returning to cycling after a hundred years away... FSA triple and 105 dérailleur up front, 10 speed cassette with Ultegra 6600 long reach in the rear. DuraAce chain. All gear combinations function but I would like all 10 speeds using the middle chain ring to be clean and quiet. On the smallest rear gear (12t) the chain is "ticking" against the inside surface of the 52t chain ring. Am I asking for too much?

Yes, you are asking for too much... sorry. Look at Shimano's techdocs, they do mention something like that. In general, all extreme gear combinations are not usable (and should not be used).
