Could be dry pedal threads. Try removing them and then put a little grease on the threads before re-installing.

Alex,
This is only a question I have in mind. Would it hurt to put a drop or two of Triflow or the same at the top to reach the inner working of the pedal while it is off if it has resistance?

Thanks,
Bill

I'm not sure tri-flow can penetrate pedal threads that are installed. Better to unthread them and use grease on the threads.

Ok my bad. I didn't explain my question too well lol. Per se the pedal is unthreaded from the crank already. Before I apply grease to the threaded part of the pedal is it a good idea to put anything (grease or oil) in the points pictured below.

Oh ok sorry. Yes you could drop some triflow into those places (nice diagram). It'll loosen things up for sure, but you'd likely have to re-apply often as tri-flow is pretty thin.

The better solution (but more work) would be to take the pedal completely apart and re-grease the pedal bearings like you would a wheel hub.

Ok, the later maybe more work but worth it. Thanks for the compliment on the diagram and help.
