Replace rear wheel
#1
Hello there, this is my first post here so i'm sorry in advance if this is in the wrong category. I bought a foldable ebike to repair it, (i don't want to use it as electrical, just normal bike, so i'm about to strip all the electric cables off) but the rear wheel (20x1.75) is missing 6 spokes, they are 130mm in lenght and i can't find anywhere to buy them because of their short lenght.
So i was wondering can't i just buy a whole new rear wheel (casette included) but for a normal bike (not ebike with the motor in the hub or whatever that is)?
I think that a wheel with longer spokes would mean the casette is going to be closer to the hub, which is different from what it is now since it has the motor, is that going to affect the transmision? Thank you for your time.

any capable bike shop should be able to cut to length and thread new spokes for you

Hi @ssilviu250 !
A couple of BikeRide community members have shared their opinion via Facebook page:

Joseph: "You can just go get a new back wheel, the new one will be "dished" properly for the hub and cassette that goes on it. The old wheel (the electric one) is laced with the motor in such a way that it will fit the chain line for the derailleur. The new wheel will work... Get a bolt on one, not a quick release."

Nich: "If six spoke have snapped on the wheel then I would suggest a new wheel."
