Shimano revo shift issue

Hi, I have a revo shift sl-rs43-7. The numbers on the shifter do not line up with the gears i am actually in, to get on the largest gear, i am 2 clicks below the 1, in the smallest gear, i am on number 5 not number 7.
A separate issue is that sometimes it takes two clicks to go one gear shift, and sometimes goes 2 gears on 1 click. it seems to eventually get back to the original misaligned position, ie, 2 clicks below the 1 for the largest gear, in the smallest gear, i am on number 5. Any advice to repair, or should it be replaced?

sounds like the cable needs to be adjusted. Typically something done about 10 miles after purchase or a new shift cable is installed; then never again.

You could sign up for the bike repair guide. As nfmisso said, first inspect & adjust the cable. On my old cruiser it was the actual shifter, (I found a crack in the "ratchet tooth") which is very inexpensive. My symptom was it always took excess effort & movement to go to a bigger cog & would shift a gear too far going to a smaller. I went with a SRAM MRX. The Revo looks better to me.

Just looking for a solution to my revoshift - the scale seems to have shifted - the first click is at "zero" and the highest is at 6. It won't go to 7 at all. Is this swimilar to the problem you had? If so I would like to knowe what you did, or find a reliable link to a manual online.

The cable needs adjustment.

Take a look at Alex's instructions in the "How to Adjust Your Rear Derailleur" link at the top of this page.

OK - so far I've only fiddled with the adjuster but I'll take a spanner to it! Thanks for your help.
