Older Schwinn

I have an older Huffy that I got from my mil ( not vintage, probably from the late 70's or 80's). Recently I purchased a bike trailer, and of course, I had to attach the piece that the trailer hooks to. In order to do this, I had to remove the metal piece that holds the gear shift wire to the bike ( no idea what it is called) First, when trying to reattach it, i discovered that my bike trailer attachment is in the way, and also, the bike will not shift now. #1 is there an extension type of attachment for the bike shifter, and #2 how to I hook it up so that it will work?
It's 3 speed, but only has the shifter, not actual gears ( does that make sense)? I found a pic of the shifter, but no luck with the actual bike, and I cannot find the model on the bike. And, of course, my camera is broken. Any help is appreciated.

I found a pic of the bike. It's a huffy catalina still no idea what year, but very similar to this one.

The rear hub has internal gears. The shifting takes place in the hub. As per shifting not sure how the trailer attaches , but if it moved the shifter outwards the inner gears are now out of line. You need to figure out a way to attach the trailer to the frame not the axle. Maybe you can reconfigure the trailer to attach to the other side. BTW strange shifter have not seen that before.

I have an old schwinn collegiate 1971 model 5 speed what size tube do I need to get . it has the skinny tires that I know were unique to Schwinn. are there after market tubes that will work?

You need to read the sidewalls of the tires, and provide to us all of the numbers and letters you see.

Most likely, but NO guarantee you have what is referred to a S-6.

Any 26 x 1 3/8 tube (ISO590) will work fine; many Wal-marts have them. A 26 x 1.xx tube (ISO559) will NOT work. S-6 is ISO597.

You can measure the size of your rims with the tires off; the ISO size is the diameter where the bead of the tire seals against the rim. You can also measure the inner diameter of a tire, that measurement will be off slightly, but close enough to determine the size amongst the standard choices.

The tire is indeed a Kendra[ 27x1 1/4 32-630 ] [ ISO14/16 ] [outside width of rim is 1 1/16]

700 x 25-35 size tube (32 is between 25 and 35)

The key information is 32-630. 32mm wide (nominally) 630mm ISO rim diameter.

This is NOT unique to Schwinn, it is a very common size. Tires and tubes are available at many Wal-marts; look for 27 x 1¼ and 27 x 1 3/8 - either will fit, as will 27 x 1 1/8 - which you will not find at Wal-mart, but is commonly available.
