Ebay Ball Bearing pulley for older 10 Tooth 6MM Simplex
#1
I bought a set of Aluminum with Ball Bearing Pulleys for my early 80's Peugeot. But before I could receive them, my Wife's 1970 Gitane pulleys broke/crumbled on a ride.. Both Gitane & Peugeot use similar Simplex systems.

They were the ONLY 10 Tooth 6MM pulleys I could find.

When I got them this past weekend, I put them on the Gitane, but found the shim type pulleys were 10.5MM thick, and the aluminum BB pulleys were 6.5MM wide. Chain rubs against side mounts. I found M6 Stainless Steel washers, and put one on each side of new pulleys.. Chain clears the side mounts now.

Did not change gear adjustment, nor decrease ease of shifting....

Looks like a winner!

Last month I contacted the ebay seller, and asked if blue ball bearing pulleys would be available.. to replace the stock shim-only pulley.
He only sold Silver ones...
He sent me one experimental pulley to try: 10T 7mm blue (with 5mm plastic shim) that was easily installed on the Peugeot, and the plastic shims made the width of the pulley same as stock..
Just to be clear:
Wife's Gitane used 6MM pulley....
My Peugeot uses 5MM pulley...
