Sprocket wobble on new bike
#1
I've just bought a new MTB for my girlfriend and was quite surprised to notice a fairly pronounced wobble on the rear gear cluster when the wheel is freewheeling.

It's a fairly cheap MTB, £250 reduced to £200, so I'm not expecting total perfection - my Marin Bobcat Trail has a slight but barely perceptible wobble, which I would expect. But a pronounced wobble on a brand new bike, however cheap, worries me a bit.

What do people think? Is this to be expected on a low-end MTB or should I be taking it back to the shop?

Ok thanks - its always good to have that second opinion. I spoke to the shop and of course they told me that all bikes have some amount of wobble (which I agree with) but I said it was quite pronounced and more than I was comfortable with on a brand new bike - after all, my 8 year old bike has an only just perceptible wobble. They said they'd swap the wheel over for me.

So we're off to the store tomorrow to see what happens.

Thanks for your thoughts.
