Hi there,
Yes it is ok for home use here is a link directly to Park Tool's site and to that specific tool.

http://www.parktool.com/product/universal-crank-puller-for-square-taper-and-splined-cranks-cwp-7

I had one of these but really never needed it because I have a vast shop full of Bicycle Tools. Anything Park Tool makes is top of the line.

Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

this tool needs to be used with great care, it is very easy to strip the thread in an alloy crank arm. Make sure the thread in the arm is clean and undamaged, oil before use and engage tool thread tightly and to the full depth in the arm before attempting removal.
Cranks with damaged threads usually have be knocked off from the back using a hammer and a long bar.

Seems pretty well thought out. You pull the tips off to swap them, you can leave the back one off to allow a socket to be used instead of an open end wrench (or spanner).

As it looks fresh out of the package

The smaller tip has a bit of a dome shape to it

You can see the O-ring that holds the tip

Under $14 (US).
