Marking seat post height

Ciao.
I've been biking with my new road bike for few weeks now and seems like I finally found the best seat post height position I need an advice from you guys on how to mark this height position on seat post? Tried yesterday with the transparent tape and it came off in the evening already, but the marker pen won't stay there as well. Other suggestions?

If it's not a carbon seatpost then you can easily use any sharp object to make a tiny scratch ... or another method is to measure the distance and remembering it afterwards.

You need that only when removing the seat post, so use some insulating tape. Holds long enough.

Yeah, I agree that having tape all around the seat (not only a small squared piece) should work without falling/peeling off.

What about those white permanent markers? Draw a mini line, it should withstand rain, moisture & water.

There is always some grease (or carbon paste) on the seat post. Sure, you can clean it off...

My problem was when transporting the bike and pushing the seat post all the way in so it wound fit the box (or the car), tape would not work, neither would a pen. I went to removing the seat post entirely, making the position with electric tape...
