tc2wheel, I will be honest, and that broken record when I say I LOVE my fat bike. I rode it for 9-months in South America (Colombia and Ecuador). The mountainous route we rode on, even regular mountain or gravel bikes weren't enough. In other words, my aluminum-framed fat bike weighed less than my riding buddy's steel-framed gravel bike.

But, I agree with you about the same becoming unwieldy and a headache when out in the mountains where it would be impossible to recharge. Even flying with an e-fat bike would be very difficult.
During the above trip, at least on a couple of occasions, we had to lift and pass our bikes across fences. I was happy that my bike was aluminum framed and did not have a battery/motor.
Fat bikes definitely offer greater stability, grip, and the pleasure of riding. Today, I rode from Boston to Providence, RI on my fat bike. It's about 50 miles and I had my laptop, camelback in the frame bag while the rest of the gear where in my backpack. I covered this 50 miles in about 4:45 minutes. Yes, maybe slower than a road bike but much, much happy and have more smiles on my face..:-)
