Should I buy one of these bikes?
#1
Hello, I found a Norco Storm (2021) and a Norco XFR 3 (2018) for sale locally and I am considering on purchasing one of them, are they good bikes?

Will either of these be a decent bike for light trails and road use?

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I wanted to pop in with some info:

The storm is an entry-level cross-country MTB, Featuring a front coil shock with a 100mm coil suspension fork and it should be a 1X11 drivetrain for the year, with hydraulic brakes. The bike has a geometry that will be comfortable for light trail riding and road riding .

The XFR 3 is a crossover bike, with 80mm of front travel and a 7-speed drivetrain, its tires are thinner and the bike is more road-focused.

(Note this is the 2023 model but the bike catalogue will contain the older model)

Given the year, spec and your intended use I would recommend the Norco Storm (2021). Check to make sure the bike is still set up as it was when sold new, or the price reflects the changes in spec (some models should feature a dropper post etc)

If you intend to ride mostly road and commuting, you may want to choose the XFR based on riding comfort, but the Storm will perform better in trail situations and provides better value for components for the year.
Enjoy the Ride!

These are hybrid bikes. Look at the stays and how thin they are. Context is always important on what a light trail is for you.

They certainly should be able to handle light trails. Ones that don't involve any big jumps or anything.

Reminds me of the hydroformed Hyper bikes. I've seen videos of people riding those on light trails no problem.
