New at cycling and confused about what I should get.
#1
Hello everyone. I'm very much new at biking. And confused about what type of bike I should get. I'm only a 5feet woman.

This is my first time learning to ride a bicycle, I tried to learn on a mountain bike but found the pedals extremely hard to pedal, no matter how much I put my strength to push. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

So, my question are :

1. What type of bike I should get?

2. What frame size/ bike size will be good for a 5ft woman?

3. How can I pedal easily?

Hello.

1) I suggest getting one with a low-entry frame or a lady geometry bike (see the image below). It will be easier for you to hop on and hop off the bike when necessary during the learning process.
2) Manufacturers typically provide their frame size charts with height and corresponding frame size. Yours would be in between 13" to 15"
3) You should have more than a single gear. Bicycles with let's say 7-speed drivetrain (hub gear or derailleur) will have gears that are very light.

Good luck!

Hi 🙋‍♂️
Considering your bike should also be about considering what gears you will require to happily cycle and enjoy your times out on the bike.
Here's a little advice on gears ... bicycle gears explained
Hope this helps...
