Have you Ever Tried an Electric Bike?

I have ridden 6, purchases 5, and am disappointed in all 6. They never go the maximum speed, nor the distance, the manufacturer claimed. My latest purchase, the NIU BQi-C3 Pro states maximum speed 28 mph, maximum distance 90 miles. Mine only reached 26.5 mph, with a maximum distance of 45 miles. And every time I ride it, on a full charge, the maximum distance decreases. Also, in the review of this E-bike, on this site, states the 2 batteries as 48V 19.2Ah. But my E-bike has 2 48V 9.6Ah batteries. No gears, and really poor lighting, won't climb hills. Could anyone suggest a good affordable E-bike near the range of $2,000.00, that will go 25 mph, a distance of at least 60 miles, and will go up steep hills?

The problem with Best Buy, they're always changing their stock around. I saw an E-bike I liked, and returned a week later. They no longer carried that bike. And the E-bike you suggested, like my E-bike, doesn't have any suspension, so you'll feel every bump in the road, knowing the street are in need of repair. The 1st E-bike I purchased at Best Buy For $1000.00 + was so bad, I returned it and got the E=bike I now have, same cost. I've replaced the seat, and seat post, and am working on replacing the rigid front fork with a suspension fork.

I haven't had the chance to try out an ebike yet, but I would love to see what the hype is all about. I would love to take one to the lake we visit in upstate NY and ride around off-road and in the wood around the lake.

I've ridden a friend's briefly, but the core reason I mountain bike ride other than being in Nature is for the exercise and until I can't ride physically I'm happy on my manual bike.

That’d be a perfect use case for an e-bike tbh — campus riding is all stop-start, little hills, and “I’m late” moments 😅

A couple quick tips before you buy:

Check your campus rules (some only allow pedal-assist / limit speed).

Prioritise a removable battery so you can charge in your dorm/class without dragging the whole bike inside.

Think about storage — if you’re dealing with stairs or tight dorm space, a foldable can be a lifesaver.

If you want a solid campus-friendly option, have a look at RINCC RN50 — it’s more compact and easier to live with day-to-day. If you’ve got longer distances or rougher paths, RINCC R200 is a great all-rounder for commuting + weekend rides.

I’m actually excited about electric bikes, especially after seeing how much they’ve evolved over the last few years. I was a bit sceptical at first, but after trying one, the experience completely changed my perspective.

E-bikes don’t replace traditional cycling for me - they enhance it. They make longer rides more accessible, help with hills and headwinds and are great for commuting without arriving exhausted. They’re also a solid option for riders who want to stay active but need a little assistance.

The biggest reason I’d say yes is flexibility. You can pedal as much or as little as you want, which makes riding more enjoyable across different terrains and fitness levels.
