Aluminium frame crack [Solved]
#1
What are the odds that my frame is cracked versus this just being a paint cosmetic defect (pictures attached)?

I've been calling my local bike shop all day to see if I can have someone look at it, but I think they are completely swamped. This is a 2003 Specialized Allez, and I've never had any serious collisions or falls, but I bought the bike used in 2012. Given that the odds are high that it is cracked, I'm going to try chipping some paint off of it tonight to take a better look. Thoughts?

It appears even the weld is cracked. You can have it welded. It will look a little uglier than new but it's better than letting the crack spread until the bike is worthless. Consult a welder and see what they say.
If I knew how to ride a bike properly, I'd do it every time.

I will second others. The frame looks cracked, unfortunately.
