Since overhaul (I'm Impressed)
#1
It's presently 0 Degrees F, with a -16 wind chill in Chicagoland...

It's been ~3 months since the overhaul of the 2 bikes, and I've been alternating them from the repair stand (Bunji Straps hanging from ceiling joist in basement)..
When I started I figured a squirt of oil was all that was needed.  I had no idea what nice bikes I had!
I learned about strange part sizes from Here & Internet.
I learned about parts & "Alternate Parts" procurement from LBS, Here, & Internet.
I learned about loose bearings from the first dis-assembly.. and found better grease & oil than what was in my garage.
I have restored old parts from grungy to new looking, without their becoming inoperative.
From this site I learned about seat & handlebar placement, and correct procedures when I got off in the weeds with the overhaul....
LBS, and a couple Ebay Sellers provided information on modern parts that would fit & upgrade our 1970-1980 French bikes.
And Recently I learned from this site, that new cables stretch a bit, and adjustments that were fine 2 months ago are now slightly 'off', and "why"....

This morning I checked both bikes hanging from the ceiling.... Both Bike's drive train work so smooth and quiet, and both shift so reliably!!!    Brakes are hundred's of percent better than last year!

I've learned how to clean, lube & Align: Dis-Similar Derailleurs, Crank-sets, brakes.....  and they still work!

Really... I'm Impressed with the results!

Thank you all for your direction!

Now if Mother Nature would just work with us......

I'll second what you say. This site has helped me a lot too. It keeps the inspiration up.

I am glad you feel that way and do not mind expressing those feelings! I agree!. This site is sort of a "Cyber Co-Op" if you will. You never what will pop up for discussion. I certainly have enjoyed the past couple years or so myself. I must admit the site transformation was a bit of hit for most of my threads as they were picture intense to say the least. I am not sure how to go about it. Possibly thread by thread and re-install pics or just delete all together and call it a rap. Sad
