Bought a 2nd hand bike and the previous owner had the fork (rockshox tora) pressure adjusted to his weight. how might i be able to adjust the suspension to suit my weight (i'm lighter)?

Depends on the model fork. Try going here for a service manual that should cover your fork:

http://www.sram.com/en/service/

Or if you post specifics about the fork, someone may be able to give you specific info.

It's a Rockshox Tora, not sure which model exactly, but it has a single air valve.
