The Derailleur is touching the seat tube but i still cannot shift to the bottom ring

i just put a new crank-set on so i wounder if the crank my need to be adjusted horizontally or if my front Derailleur (very old acer x) is incompatible with my crank-set (brand new Altus)

the chainline needs to be pretty close to matching.

You have some choices:
* new FD
* longer BB axle
* give up the bottom ring

turns out the bb was threaded backward causing the gear ring to be out of place bought a new bb solved the problem the bike is almost 17 years old
