Using chain tool on SRAM chain OK?
#1
I just used a chain tool to take apart my chain, and while cleaning it I noticed it is a SRAM chain and has the easy take apart link on it. Will the chain be OK if I put it back together with the chain tool or is the chain shot now?

I have taken out and put in links on the one I have with no problem so far.
Have fun and just enjoy the ride

Thanks, I put mine together again and it seems to be ok other than it is really tight and doesn't hinge as nicely as the others. Is that common until it breaks back in or is that an issue?

Nevermind the tight chain comment, the chain tool worked to loosen it a bit.

The "easy release link" is known as a powerlink and is purely there as a convenience. It just means all you need is a pair of pliers. They're also mightily handy if you snap the chain, just replace the outer plates with a spare powerlink.

Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!
