Hanger vs non-hanger type

I was wondering whether it makes a difference. if I install a hanger type shimano altus or non-hanger. any advice? I would appreciate it. thanks

If your frame has a hanger already, get the non-hanger derailleur. If your frame doesn't have teh mounting point for the derailleur already, you need the hanger.
