Suspension problem
#1
My wife purchased a bike a couple of years ago, but following child-birth, is now unfortunately a couple of stone heavier, and wants to get back cycling, with me and little one, to help loose weight....

Problem is, we think she's now too heavy for the suspension.
Everytime she rides it, the rear suspension hits the bottom of the cyclinder, and then randomly it pings back up, into her!

Is it possible to tighten rear suspension, or indeed make it fixed?

The bicycle is an Apollo (Halfords) one bought, and I can provide a better description of the suspension if required?!!!

Thanks

Unless you are doing serious off-roading and can afford a high end bike, rear sus is a waste of money, it is heavy and soaks up effort, making even a simple ride hard work, you cannot fit a child seat or even panniers some times, it is just a posers feature for kids!!

However, you are stuck with it unless you can afford a new HARDTAIL bike, so make sure the adjustment nut on the damper spring is tightened as hard as you can get it, most people ride with this far too loose, allowing the sus to hammer up and down, which means it isn't doing it's job.

The problem may be, now that it has been ridden with it loose, is the thread may be damaged, not allowing it to be tightened.
