I have Specialized Armadillo on the rear and Bell Kevlar on the front. I need the protection a lot more than speed on my commute.
the selection of tires in 27" (630mm) has dropped dramatically in the past decade with the increasing popularity of 700c (622mm).
I would suggest: Panaracer Pasela in 27 x 1 or Continental Ultra Sport in 27 x 1 1/8
