The city of Black Hawk Colorado tried to ban bicycles; the case made it to the Colorado Supreme Court, and the ban was overturned. The link above is the "ADVANCE SHEET HEADNOTE February 4, 2013"

First idea (without heaving read it): Wow, those Americans.
After having read it: I can sort of see the point. The city of Black Hawk seems to have banned cycling on one of the main streets. The street is described as connecting the interstate to the city centre. In general I hate it when this happens: there's a number of street off limits for cyclists where I ride, though mostly for a good reason (and I wouldn't ride there anyway... too darn dangerous). In some cases the bans just... suck, not to make too fine a point? What I find nice about the law (as it is applied by the CO supreme Court) is that there has to be an alternative within 450 yards. I'd like to see that in some cases here...
