My very heavy/fast ebike
#1
Good afternoon everyone, I am new here and forgive me if I am not following correct protocol or out of line in any way. I have a question for anyone that could give any usable advice, information, or ideas on what to do. So I have a very heavy and very fast ebike that I have had to do a few modifications to correct some of the problems that the bike had from the time it was built. So the bike stock came with regular bicycle hydraulic disk brakes. Which are inadequate and dangerous for this bike because of the speed and weight. So I customized the front brake to a motorcycle disk brake. Which is much better than the original but I don't have room to do that for the rear brake. Because the motor sits in the hub next to the rear disk. So my only option was to add a second caliper. I already have the two calipers mounted where they need to be. The problem I have is one hand splitting to two calipers. I bought a "T" to split the lines but I am not able to get it to work because all I can find are straight connectors which on a T makes the hydraulic line turn too sharp. So I either need a Y to split it. Or a 90° connector or find a company that can custom make a hydraulic line with a professional crimper. Anyone have any input on this?

Try to call a few bike shops to see what they recommend. Hope you can find a solution. How fast does your bike go? I have a juiced hyper scorpion that does 33 MPH. I would say you could look at their site but they went bankrupt and now have new owners but they don’t seem to have anything as far as parts. You can try other manufacturers that are fast and have good brakes. The ones in the hyper scorpion are real good.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use a 203mm rotor and a 4 piston hydraulic caliper on the back and it wouldn't be sufficient for your bike.

That combination is competition tested and proven.

This is personally what I would recommend.
