eBikes are banned in these places!

Just came across this and couldn't believe it!

Ebike Regulations in Different Countries: https://macfoxbike.com/blogs/news/ebike-regulations-in-different-countries

Norwegian legislators propose ban on offroad use of e-bikes: https://cyclingindustries.com/news/details/norwegian-legislators-propose-ban-on-offroad-use-of-e-bikes-and-why-the-industry-must-object

I don't ride an eBike, but in the groups I ride in, around 70 to 80% ride eBikes, and of those, I'd say maybe 70% wouldn't be in the outdoors riding if it wasn't for eBikes.

It's given the aging population a fantastic means of activity.

I'm interested in your thoughts.

Would you ban eBikes in your area or anywhere else?

"With great power comes great responsibility," as Spiderman /Superman say. I feel many motorists, e-bikers, and cyclists misuse the power they gain when they start riding a motorized or electric bike, or a regular bike.

I’ve seen cyclists riding recklessly on sidewalks/ co-use paths, which are meant for pedestrians and strollers or mixed use. In Boston, I’ve witnessed enough reckless cyclists on the road to make daily commuters resent us. I’ve personally faced anger from motorists simply for being on the road, but also received praise for stopping at a red light.

Sorry for the rant, but my point is this: if e-bikers learn to collaborate and ride alongside cyclists, they will gain allies. I see no difference between cyclists and e-bikers when I’ve seen them in the mountains. Even, you mountain riders group is a great example of such an alliance.

Reckless cyclists give us all a bad name, and the same goes for reckless e-bikers.

That said, a close friend of mine is able to ride again after a hip replacement, all thanks to finding an e-bike.

It is just plain dumb to rant against e-bikes. They allow millions more to get out of the house, and get a little exercise.
