Custom built Virtue 7 city/path bicycle
#1
A few years ago I purchased a couple these Virtues to check out the brand, sold one and have had this one in storage for years. decided to pull it out and build it up as an 8spd. Original to the bike is the stem, frame/fork/headset/pedals. Everything else is new or parts bin for this build. Keeping sleek style in mind but wanted it to be tough enough to last. Had to have a strong wheelset as this bike is a 23in frame with a 33in standover. A pleasant mix of old and new offering me a chance to check out the Sunrace 8speed top mount thumbie for simplicity and have to say they are a pretty unit.
Full cromo frame and fork, nothing fancy but it probably come in @ 28lbs or less. The test ride was great! felt good in every way and the gearing is spot on for most riders I would think.

Looks great! I have never heard of the brand myself.

On a side note: I picked up a new Shimano 10 spd cassette (12 to 42t). I believe it is a Deore hyperglide model. Not sure of value (I paid a dollar) or application. I may not have a new enough hub to mount it on unless I can drop a couple cogs and run it on a 8 to 9 spd freehub if compatible. I wanted to build a CX/gravel/hybrid bike with a single front ring and thought this cluster would suffice with a 48t to 50t chainring.

if the splines match you can grind the rivits if need be and customize to suit if need be. I am running a 46t chainring with an 11-32t rear cassette.

I'll take a closer look. I still need a rear derailleur that can handle a 42t cog. I have an grest Sun Tour V-GT Luxe, but I do not think it will suffice for much over 32-34t cogs (which is probably enough for me). I just threw a new 14-28t FW on my "hill" bike and found that the RD could not work with a 28t cog. Had to do my climbing on a 24t which I did (even the Mt.); but slowly and painfully at my age.

you may have to look in to a derailluer hanger extension. I have zero experience with them myself, but they allow you to exceed capacity to use larger gears
