Brake/hub issue
#1
What causes the brakes to lock-up i have only rear foot brake on my cruiser im sure it has to do with the hub but was wondering if its an ez fix or major overhaul?

Coaster hub would need to be taken apart.

There's nothing that could be causing that without locking up the pedal also.

The job's not really a huge deal. Most shops will charge you about $30 to overhaul it.

Doing it yourself takes a little know-how with bikes; even looking at a guide can still be confusing; but it is an option of course if you'd like to do it yourself.

Hi soo, If the brake pads are too close to the rim or drum and If the cable is too tight, it can cause the brake to engage excessively.
Since you mentioned having a coaster brake on your cruiser, the hub could be causing the problem. The coaster brake engages when you pedal backward. If the internals of the hub are worn or damaged, it might not disengage properly
