Hey all,
If im asking this improperly or in a way that is incorrect for forum procedures, I apologize. I have been playing with the idea of getting a mountain bike for a while now. I have a Trek FX Sport 6, which I ride every day on sidewalks/bike paths. I get about 6-12 miles per day commuting and maybe 20-80 on weekends, depending on the weekend. I love biking, hiking, camping, kayaking, etc.
I used to mountain board and downhill longboard until I had a bad accident at 32mph (shattered scaphoid, broke collar bone, tore a tendon in wrist, & hit the ground so hard I got cauliflower ear.) So this is a great way to get the adrenaline I love with a lot less risk to my personal health. My curiosity is, should I consider just getting a regular mountain bike, or should I look at spending the extra money to get a mountain e-bike? (Are those taboo words around here??) I have had an electric longboard with great success; however, what's the verdict on electric mountain bikes? Do they enhance the fun?? Do they ruin the fun??)
Looking forward to some insights here. My old mountain bike is not reliable enough to make it another season. Thank you all for the advice and insights here! I apologize if I have struck anger in anyone for mentioning e-bikes.
