I am upgrading an 8 year old Scott Solace from the Ultegra 6700 series, have acquired almost all the new components but wondering about the shifters. I have the Shimano Ultegra ST-6703 shifters for a triple. They work on my double crankset with a 10 speed drivetrain. What I am trying to find out is will the 10 speed shifters work with an 11 speed setup? Like I said, the shifters, even though they are for a triple crank work on the double 50-34. Would appreciate some solid replies. Thanks!
They use the same spacing, but unfortunately 10 speed shifters have 10 clicks and 11 speed components need 11.
Kinda… but not really..
the spacing difference for 10-11 speed is less than about half a millimeter but it is still enough to make a difference. A 2x10 to a 2x11 setup is a little easier to set up cause you can kind of bend and work your way around it to make it work but a 3x to a 2x system on top of that makes it complicated. I would not recommend trying it. With the difference that you have to work with it realistically just wont shift well.
