Wheel damage - serious or not?
#1
Someone posted this asking if this is a structural failure & is this wheel toast?

Doesn't look like a serious issue to me..

Are there any concerns at all?

Toast! Grooves look pretty deep, not to mention strange. the wear should be even.

Hm, is it really that bad?

I thought that it's just a cosmetic damage and perhaps can only affect the brake pad wear (can be damaged and won't last as long as usual). Not sure how do you even sustain such wheel damage though.

Yeas, can get mixed opinions here from the people, but better swap this for a fresh wheel!

Quick update: the bike owner had polarising opinions and did not want to risk, so he changed the wheels.

Good choice, always error to the side of caution. I would never give advice just to sell something even if it meant the money was going in my own pocket.

Honestly, I don't think, that this dammage was critical, but better be safe than sorry, it's my motto in life, so, you've made the right choice.
Wish you good cycling.
