Odd size seatpost..
#1
Hello folks. Here's my problem. My seatpost diameter is 25.6mm. I want to replace it with a longer post. All I can find online is 25.4mm or 25.8mm. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

You can get a shim that will go in the frame and let you use a smaller post. But I did a search for "25.6mm seatpost" and saw a couple shops that carry them. It's best to use the right size.

Thanks again Dave, I'll try that search. I guess you can tell by my posts that I'm making a few mods to my bike.

I've had very little success in finding a 25.6mm seatpost, only one site so far, and just one offering. Has anyone tried a post that's only ".2mm" different in size, as in 25.4 or 25.8? (not necessarily those specific sizes, mind you)

I agree with DaveM, it is best to use the same size, as .2mm will make a difference. It may be too tight and get stuck in your frame, or it'll be too loose and you'll have to stress the frame to tighten it. If you can't find the right size, try finding a smaller diameter post that will work with a seatpost shim.

Well, after some diligence I was able to find an alloy post that I'm satisfied with. I appreciate the feedback on this issue, thanks guys. Consider this problem solved. Big Grin
