Measure seatpost

How do I measure what size seatpost a bike takes? Thanks.

There is a tool most shops will have to measure this correctly. To do it yourself, you really need a good set of calipers. Seatposts come in 0.2mm size increments and you really need to get the right size. Close won't work.

Last resort of course is trial and error.
