I am trying to help my 10-yr old change his rear wheel. We purchased a new wheel, installed it and it goes crooked and one side locks against the frame once his weight is put on it. The old wheel was bolt attached and so is the new one. How can we fix this? Thanks.
Are the axle nuts on both sides tight?
Yes, actually when we set them into the frame and tighten, the wheel goes against the frame right away, when we set one side up a little from the groove of the frame and tighten, it doesn't happen until he gets on - maybe it's not tight enough. There is a bolt on one side of the new wheel that I was wondering if we could remove, if it is a spacer bolt? Thanks for your reply, Alex.
I wouldn't remove any of the spacers, just make sure the outer bolts are tight enough.
