I have a mountain bike that is just sitting here and I'm trying to decide if I should fix this mountain bike or not

sounds as if you only have one? Then fix it! When you have a few, then it is a question of whether or not you should fix it now or later! Ha

That depends on the bike and how many parts it needs. Will the cost of parts exceed the price of the bike? Are you better off taking the repair money and using it towards a new bike? Not enough info given . Maybe. Labor is free.
