Shifter does not "hold"
#1
I bought Roadmaster Granite Peak a couple of weeks back (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Roadmaster-Granite-Peak-26-Men-s-Mountain-Bike-Black/34931885).

Suddenly one by one both the gears have stopped "holding" in place.
The gear cable does move and so does the derailleurs.
A video I took is available here:

How can I fix the issue?

Thank you.

Even if you purchased in the box the shifters should hold position. Return the bike and request a new one or repair of the shifters.

I have this same problem! It seems to me something in the shifters came loose or broke. It's really just as simple as replacing the shifters? TY!

No, I am not sure. Undecided
I want to confirm that as well.

It is not in warranty.
I will have to buy new ones.
Does anyone know where can I buy them for cheap?
Also, will changing shifters fix my problem? If yes, which shifters should I buy?

Thank you.

now is the time for more info, where are you located? how many speed is the bike? no not buy what was on there. What is your price range?

@painkiller: Can I be sure that the problem is only with shifters?
I am based in Sunnyvale, CA.
The bike itself is worth ~100$. So I am looking at a budget of ~20, I guess.

Labor rates are the same per hour and parts are the same price too. In your price range you should be able to find gripshifters for each side with grips and cables, all you have to do is install them correctly. But I still have no info on how many speeds your bike is to help further. this is an example of a 7 speed set that would work with a triple ring up front and a 7speed Shimano system

you said you got the bike a couple weeks back and it is not in warranty? Did you buy it used? That part does not make sense to me but whatever. I pull gripshifters off bike all the time, totally not my cup of tea. but there ya go

These are the specifications of the bike.
It is 18 speed bike.
It has grip shifters.
Is it extremely difficult to change the shifters?

How do I confirm that this is compatible with my bike?
Also are you sure that the problem is with shifters and nothing else?
Thank you.
