I'm having intermittent problems with the motor not coming on, and trying to narrow down possible reasons...is this supposed to be on the battery, or is this something I need to wipe off?
Thanks for any help!!
Probably a dielectric grease like silicone, and common on electrical connections exposed to moisture. Helps keep water out and protect from corrosion, etc.; but it is nonconductive. The connection should be tight enough that the grease does not interfere with the electrical circuit. If the connector seems loose then it might be part of the problem (can be fixed if experienced; do not mess with it if under warranty!).
I would spread the grease around any rubber type seal, but keep it off of the pins and receptacles and check operation. Check all wiring for damage, all connections properly made.
Contact the dealer if under warranty now!
