Back wheel slid down and is now stuck??
#1
Today while riding my bike, it seems that the back wheel "shifted" off of where it's supposed to be. This left the wheel brushing up against the frame permanently so that the wheel can barely be turned at all anymore.

And what's worse, the wheel seems to be COMPLETELY stuck. Even if I completely take the nut totally off the axel, I pull with all my strength and can't move the wheel even a millimeter. It just won't budge. I even tried using a hammer to bang it back up and into the corner of the axel holder! Am I missing something??

Loosen the axle nut on both sides and than center wheel in frame and tighten. I does not need to go all the way back into the stay. Looking at the paint marks it does not look like it moved much and it looks like it moved more on the chain side. Unless something got bend........

When you pull the wheel you might want to check for a bent axle, which is a cheap fix. You can repack the bearings at the same time.

They are correct above as in loosen both axle nuts. It does not mean a trip to the bike shop because this is a VERY easy fix! Turn it upside down loosen up both nuts pull the wheel back to its original even centered place then tighten up the axle bolts again. Then ride on my friend ride on.
OH NEVER EVER USE A HAMMER unless it absolutely calls for it.
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

Welcome Vux... Yes you are missing a gas cutting torch after all efforts you mention up there. Big Grin...Joking man...
I think as your wheel start coming loose your cones might have come loose too. Check them out. If they are stuck on inner side of lugs, it will work as a screw jack & will make your wheel stiff. Try to tighten your cones a bit, and your wheel might come free...All the best..
