Removing cassette question

So I want to remove my rear cassette using the FR-5 cassette lockring removal tool.

The fr-5 lockring tool that came with my tool kit does not have the pin that runs through the tool. After watching the video on removing cassettes on this site, the tool he uses has the pin. Is it imperative that I go out and buy the one with the pin? Or can I just as easily remove the cassette lockring with the pin-free fr-5?

No, it's just that the pin is keeping the splines aligned into the lockring... But you can achieved the same by holding it with a bit of thumb pressure while removing the lockring...

I Have a regular one (without the pin) for 10 years now, never had a problem, never broke the splines in the lockring...
