Handlebar Riser Height
#1
I just purchased a 2007 XL Cannondale Bad Boy in great shape for a good price. Unfortunately the handlebars are a bit too low for me. It already has either a 90mm or 110mm (it's hard to measure but it looks like 100mm) x 125 degree stem. I purchased a Dimension post extension which helped but i would like to go a bit higher. I believe that my only option is to buy a handlebar with a greater rise. Unfortunately I don't know the rise on mine and I don't know how to measure it. Any advice is appreciated.

This link is from Flanders Motorcycle parts. It shows how to measure the handlebars.

Did you get fitted to this bike? Is it the right size for you? Or are just looking to ride upright. Around a 4 inch raise should be max with the raiser you got.

Is this the same height dimension in bicycle handlebars specs?

I was fitted for this size frame on a new cannondale bike in the shop. It was a bit too costly. So I bought a used american made one.

Due to a spinal injury (hit by car 10+ years ago), it is more comfortable to ride more upright.

The "post extender" advertised a 3" rise. The "angled stem" was on the bike when I bought it and I measured a rise of +- 57mm. Do you think this Mtn Riser 31.8 27.75" 5" - Blk Alloy Polished http://sunlitecycling.com/product_detail.php?short_code=Alloy+MTB%2FCity&cl1=HANDLEBARS handlebar would work with my bike?

If getting a high bar is what you need, this one is OK. You can rotate it back and forth to find the best place than lock it. You may need new longer cables.

Make sure handlebar diameter is the same as yours.

Instead of a higher rise "straight" bar, you could also get a swept back moustache style bar like these: http://store.velo-orange.com/index.php/components/handlebars/vo-montmartre-handlebar.html

They might look a bit funny if you're not used to them on a modern bike, but I've ridden several bikes with them and they're very comfortable. If you want to be upright, moving your hands back twoeards you will do more than just raising them up higher but still stretched out in front.
