Font disc brake wheel for v brake setup
#1
Hi everyone..new member here..
My bike is a Gary Fisher Advance 2005..v brake front and back.
I have just bought some second hand front and back wheels.
They were listed as Mavic D521. 26"
The front wheel has a rotor disk on.. so I assume they are from a front disc rear v brake set up..
Does the front wheel/hub need to be changed to use with my v brakes, can I just remove the rotor disc or leave it on..

Thanks....

does the front rim you purchased have a braking surface on it? If yes, no problems. Remove the disc for reduced weight and sell the disc.

From pictures online, it looks like the D521 is rim brake compatible, and very well respected.

Yes the rim does have breaking surface, and the disc is fitted with 6 allen screws.
The back wheel has a 8 speed HyperGlide HG cassette 11/30 ..will my original chain be OK . The old wheel has a 8 speed 11/32 cassette.
Which online site did you see the pics/info

Thanks again

breaking -> broken ????

Brakes are for slowing down, breaking is to make not useable.
