Nexus 8 speed. Good Hub??

I'm having a lot of trouble riding my bikes because of wrist pain and the trike is to awkward around town. So I need a city bike. That's my excuse and Im sticking to it. Several of my bikes are now on craigslist. Ive noticed when riding the ole Schwinns I have no wrist pain so Ive been looking into comfort bikes where you sit more upright. I really like the Raleigh Circa with the Nexus. I like the fact if you need to stop unexpectedly you can simply shift to a lower gear without holding the wheel up and turning the pedals. I did notice the gears are really close together but for around town that should be ok.

Are these good dependable hubs?? Are they hard to keep adjusted?? Thanks

I was pretty sure that was the case. I think I will call the dealer in the morning and ask him to hang on to it for me. Its a new 09 so I don't think he should have a problem holding it. I like that it has braze ons fron and rear for racks. I just put clipless on the trike so those cheap plastic pedals can go right away and get replaced by the much nicer originals from the trike.

Im sure Ill hear how heavy it is and my reply will be , "well I must be tougher then you because it doesn't bother me".

Just for info Bianchi makes a cool little inexpensive upright position bike called the Cortina. I would buy that if I wasn't drouling over the Nexus

You cant go wrong with the Nexxus hub. I have one on my Specialized Globe Vienna 4 and after about 4 years and lots of use, not a hitch. It makes the bike feel a little tail heavy when you lift it up but you wont notice it once its on the move. The gear change is the party piece because you can shift when standing still which the derailleur geared guys cant do. You could experiment with the chainring. Mine came with a 42T and 18T rear cog and I went through 44, 26, 48 and now I'm running a massive 56T, you cant imagine the speed I get now.
