Changed Brake Lever & Cable/Housing

First thing is how old are your break pads? If you can get Salmon pads get them they will help out a lot on stopping power. As far as the cable fits you should be ok. A pic would help a lot here. there are lots of way to hook up brakes.
My dad always told me a Sledge a matic can fix any thing.
