Gear shifter
#1
I am trying to rebuild a NEXT Mountain bike I found in the dump. My problem is changing the gear shift cable. I have watched the videos on this but my gear shifter doesn't want to come apart. Any advice please.

Being that it is a Next MTB can you post a picture or two? I have a Next Plush and also a Next PowerClimber. They both have twistgrip shifters. Look at this and tell us if it is the same shifter ... http://forums.bikeride.com/thread-995.html .
Good maintenance to your Bike, can make it like the wheels are, true and smooth!

Given the price of new shifters; I would suggest seriously considering replacing the shifter; and maybe the derailluer too. I purchased my last shifter from Amazon, a SRAM MRX, which is Shimano compatible.
