After putting some mileage on the Trek 7000 I won,I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed to small for me. The bike is 17.5 in and me inseam is 33 in. using the book between the legs method of measuring. I do think the hybrid is the right type for my purposes and was wondering what the differences where between the 7000 and 7100,other than price.

The main difference seems to be that the 7100 has a suspension fork. Other than that, they changed brands / models on the shifters and rear derailleur, but the parts seem equivalent.

Wow! That is a considerable difference in size, frame vs inseam. There are lots of sizing charts available around the 'Net, but a "rule of thumb" is buy a frame size 10 inches smaller than your inseam. In other words, if you have a 33-inch inseam then buy a 23-inch frame. Adjust seat (forward back up down) for any small differences.

Like I said, the method is not exactly scientific but it works okay for most of us.

The amount of bikes listed at Trek is mind boggling even with the comparison chart it's confusing. For instance, when comparing say a 7200 and 7.2 is there a difference in the purpose or just components?
