I'm building up a new frame, but since it's the first time I'm trying, I've had my LBS handle the headset and BB install. I also had them install the crown race on the fork but I noticed that the mechanic didn't grease the crown race seat on the fork, which the instructs that came with the fork say should be done.
Is this critical? I'll grease the top of the race, which seems more important to me as it is in direct contact with the headset. I'd hate to have to take the fork back to have the race greased and reseated, but I don't want to skip any corners now that are going to haunt me later. Not sure if this matters, but it's an all carbon fork.
Thanks,
Andrew
