Gt Parts
#1
Hi i've recently wrapped the rear derailleur around the back wheel damaging it and it also bent the hanger. I'm new to this forum and new to fixing bikes so please ignore my stupidity. I have a Gt Ruckus (thats all i know about the model) it about 5 years old, Could any one help me on how to get parts for this bike, are all derailleurs the same or are they all different any help would be great thanks

IT would be very helpful if some information on your derailleurs was provided. You know like what make and how many speeds. Good questions get more answers.

Generic reply is that similar derailleurs would work. Check manufacturer site for installation info.Do a google search for availability and price. Good luck.

Main question is: Is the bent hanger repairable? On some frames it can be replaced, on others it might be bent back to the original position. If the hanger is beyond repair, the frame is ready for the scrap bin (or convert it do a single speed / fixie).

Check this site for Alex's video and article for fixing bent hangers. Special tool is needed, best to take it to a bike shop.Google is your friend too.
