A New Hope For Cheaper Bikes In 2025?! from GMBN
#1
Found this YouTube Video from Global Mountain Bike Network brilliant. Offering a lot of hope!

https://youtu.be/lB_AmiHZWSA?si=IVjs-8LLtntjwj7d

Headline for the show

"This week on the GMBN Dirt Shed Show, Martyn Ashton is joined by Blake Samson to discuss the price wars hitting the bike industry in 2025. With big brands slashing prices and EMTBs now competing directly with traditional mountain bikes, are we entering a new era of cheaper bikes for everyone? Plus, we celebrate 10 years of GMBN, talk about the return of Nukeproof!"

Even if you're sitting on the fence, you'll get a lot from this

GMBN is pretty awesome for doing these, I wonder if the admins can get any of the presenters on here so they can have more ideas for content too, I'm pretty sure there are lots of ideas floating around here

@meamoantonio Fantastic idea!

Does anyone know how to contact the editors here or even the GMBN team?

MBN is really great at doing these. I wonder if the administrators might invite any of the presenters to participate so they can gather more material ideas.

The cheapest quality mountain bikes I've seen are on Facebook Marketplace.

Many riders have great intent and want to get out and mountain bike but give it away fairly soon and sell their bikes at a discounted rate.

Worth checking out imo

I think it is a balance of margin (corporate profit) and greed (profit in the pocket). Frame builders and component manufacturers have to accept this balance to support the industry and the pockets of consumers. Personally, to save a few $$, I have been buying either a 1-3-year-old road bicycles. I am in this situation again, selling my 2020 Argon 18, which was two years old at the time, and looking at perhaps my last bike, a 2023 or 2024 model, saving at least 30-40% compared to new. I assume it's the same in the MTB world.
Anyone selling?

I've had good luck on ebay, both buying and selling. I bought my first mountain bike there about 20 years ago. Giant NRS1, if you remember those. I hit that thing hard and actually bent the frame. Sold my Litespeed L1R on ebay, then bought my current Argon 18 from TPC (The Pros Closet) looking for a 2-year-old Willier or Merida.

...and the first thing to check out when buying a second-hand mountain bike is the frame. Ask how much off-road trail riding they've done and check for damage around the crank area and hairline splits.

It's difficult, but check it out anyway.
